Obasanjo places order for made-in-Aba shoes

Former president of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo has encouraged the purchase of indigenous products by placing an order for made-in-Aba shoes. Obasanjo placed the order for the shoes during the 2016 Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Forum in Lagos, Daily Post reports. Speaking as one of the panelist at the forum, Obasanjo commended Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for promoting indigenous products. “Governor, I listened to you and I commend you for what you’re doing in Abia. Please keep doing what you’ve told us you’re doing,” he said. Ikpeazu, who serves as the marketing officer of made-in-Aba product said Aba remains the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) capital of Nigeria, where young Nigerians were engaged in the business of making of shoes, clothing and other products. Military begins plans to tackle Fulani herdsmen menace

Judges’ arrest: EFCC quizzes 3 senior lawyers over money transfer

The Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is currently quizzing three senior lawyers over the involvement with corruption in the judiciary,  Premium Times reports. The lawyers sources said reported the Lagos office of the EFCC Thursday, October 27.  They were being grilled for allegedly transferring huge sums of money to the bank accounts of some indicted judges. The Nigerian Airforce has issued a warning to Niger Delta militants in the south-south region to stop their attacks and dialogue with the federal government or be wiped out. Leadership reports that this warning was issued on Thursday, October 27 by the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Sadique Abubakar while commissioning new blocks of Airmen quarters at the 97 Special Operations Group (SOG) of Nigeria Air Force in Port Harcourt, Rivers state. Group Managing Director of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Dr Maikanti Baru has said that Nigeria has lost about $7billion which is equivalent to N2.1trillion in the last 10months to vandalisation of oil facilities. Baru made this revelation on Friday, October 28 during his presentation on “Global Oil Prices, Militancy and Terrorism and its Impact on Government Revenue in Nigeria’’ at the 2016 Fiscal Liquidity Assessment Committee Retreat in Abuja. He said that apart from security challenges in the region, politics, judiciary, oil prices and production cost continued to impact negatively on the oil industry. “Over 7000kpd of crude oil has been lost due to vandalism this year.
