Diezani’s $153m loot: Nigerians call capital punishment

Some Nigerians have urged the federal government to mete out the capital punishment to former minister of petroleum resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, following the confiscation of the sum of $153 allegedly siphoned by the minister during the Jonathan administration.
EFCC is investigating a sprawling estate in Yenagoa, Bayelsa state believed to be owned by Diezani Alison-Madueke.

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, had on Friday, December 6, ordered the temporary forfeiture of the sum money which Diezani Alison-Madueke, allegedly siphoned from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and stashed in three banks in the country, namely Sterling Bank Plc, First Bank Plc and Access Bank Plc.
EFCC said that out of the money, N23.4 billion was kept in Sterling Bank Plc, N9.08 billion in First Bank Plc and $5m in Access Bank Plc.
In a related development, the EFCC is also investigating a sprawling estate in Yenagoa, Bayelsa state believed to be owned by the former minister.
The estate was discovered by operatives of the anti-graft agency in the course of their investigation of public funds allegedly stolen by the former minister.
The acting chairman of the EFCC, Mr. Ibrahim Magu has already left Nigeria for London in connection with the investigation of the ex-minister and some upscale properties traced to her at home and abroad.
The recent discoveries by the anti-graft agencies has angered some Nigerians who have called for more punitive measures to be meted out to Diezani to serve as deterrent to others.
Others called for the government to confiscate all properties traced to her and other looters.
See reactions to the issue below:
Donaldson Okorote: "FG should sieze it immediately and perfect all documents of forfeiture. All these thieves, the only opportunity given to Niger Delta./South South, they used it to steal n loot the country's treasury, thinking that the common people of Niger Delta will support and defend them. Even when they have diverted allocations meant to develop the region. I am happy that the people have become well informed that they were years ago. It's the fool and illiterate that respect or worship Public Office thieves these days."
Edward Igandan: "The scale of looting of our democratically elected leaders will make the looting of the likes of Abacha and Ibb fade into the oblivion. This were people also calling Abacha and Ibb thieves oooo."
Dauda Odunlami: "With all this discovery and latest money to be forfeited by this woman, some morons has not come to there senses and appreciate Buhari administration for once....instead they were predicting that their father will die....tell me who will not die before.... Buhari shall fulfill the will of God that brought him into corridor of power"
Durojaye Isola Salawu: "Our corrupt leaders should realise that all these illgotten wealth is only for this duniya (earth/planet).
Accountability and probity is certain in the grave where there will be no lawyer/barrister at law/Senior Advocate of this world to solicit for you."
Odun Chris: "These people are evil, wicked and deserve to be hanged. I dont care if you are a yoruba, ibo or hausa, pdp, apc, muslim, christian, atheist or traditionalist. Anyone who is capable of enriching himself or herself the way this woman and many of the current and past political office holders did should be hanged. Let the constition be changed to remove immunity and replace it with dealth penalty for anyone found guilty of corruption. Nigerians need to shun politics of tribalism or ethnicity. If you are found wanting, get what you deserve. This is the only way people like this witch can be eradicated from Nigeria."
Tola Paps: "This Daziani is something else, am shocked at our women atimes, just assume GEJ was reelected, she would have sold Nigeria alongside her boss! Although we also know that the one we voted for has brought pains and suffering with insensitivity, Nigeria, country of regret! God will rescue us from useless leaders one day."
brahim Sani: "Thanks to Buhari and the authorities for their efforts in returning these loots. They shed blood to survive, they rather live with the blood of people in their hands. That's why we have voted Buhari, because he is the one who can withstand the like of these looters, murderers that don't respect human dignity."
Sam Isaac: "Let every criminally acquired wealth be forfeited to the government but let it not be selectively applied. Everybody knows that we have plenty more criminals who have kept their wealth and some are still in government. Unless the rule of law is applied fairly across board we will never make the needed progress."
Kosemani Taofeek: "She has to be deal with according to the law of our land. They have finish Nigeria with their selfish act, they put the masses in sorrow, God we not forgive those who looted our money or divert our money for their own personal use."
Muhammed Buba: "Imagined the kind worth of money that gej evils stolen? but some idiots ppl are saw support for them without reasonable bcos their leaving at darkness rooms for selfishness even does hatred should kills them as killing they dog father ojukwu. pdp evils are really corrupt ppl both of their master gej that's the had corrupt leader ever been at African history."
Meanwhile, operatives of Nigeria’s anti-graft agency, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have questioned two former Group Managing Directors (GMDs) and three former Executive Directors (EDs) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) over their roles in the transfer of $153m to some banks.
According to a report by The Nation, One of the former executive directors is said to have admitted playing a role in the transfer of the money.
An EFCC source who was quoted in the report said the five ex-officials and a few others had been quizzed in connection with the transfer of the funds.
