Buhari is to blame for problem in Nigeria Police Force - Oba of Lagos


- The Oba of Lagos said President Muhammadu Buhari is to blame for the decay in the Nigeria Police Force - He said during Buhari's military regime as Head of State, he was not committed to the funding of the police because he thought there was a conspiracy in the Force againsthim - The monarch called on Buhari to repair the damage he caused in police now that he is a democratic leader The Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, has said President Muhammadu Buhari is responsible for the rot in the Nigeria Police Force. Akiolu, a retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police, said between 1983 and 1985, when Buhari was Head of State, he took some decisions which killed the efficiency and effectiveness of the Nigeria Police Force, The Punch reports. He said: “The military killed the efficiency and effectiveness of the Nigeria Police Force. The problem of the police started with Buhari in 1984 when he was Head of State. They said (Sunday) Adewusi wanted to take over the government. I explained to them that it was not possible at all.” Akiolu called on Buhari to consider repositioning the police so that they can be efficient, now that he is back as a democratic leader. The monarch prayed that the president would recover speedily and return to the country to continue with the anti-corruption fight. Also speaking, a former IG, Musiliu Smith, said the government needed to pay attention to training of officers. On his part, the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, who organised the seminar said the collaboration between the police, other sister agencies, and the military was being strengthened to ensure effective operation in the country. He added that his special teams had been deployed to various highways in the country where kidnappers were unleashing terror on daily basis. In an earlier report by NAIJ.com, the Nigerian Senate voted to alter the constitution to allow independent candidates contest elections in the country and to change the name of the Nigeria Police Force. Kano university students riot after local life savers failed to save drowning student

Students of Kano State University of Science and Technology, KUST Wudil on Wednesday rioted and barricaded Wudil-Gaya road in Kano State.   Adamawa State Governorship Electoral Petitions Tribunal on Monday, dismissed the petition filed by Dr. Umar Ardo Ardo against Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri. The Governorship Candidate of the Social Democratic Party(SDP), Dr. Umar Ardo, his Deputy, Amos Yusuf and SDP filed a petition challenging the governorship election conducted by INEC on the 18th March, 2023. Dr. Ardo, in his petition instituted on the 8th May, 2023 had joined INEC, Fintiri and 16 others as respondents, alleging that the election was not conducted in substantial compliance with the electoral act.
