 Nigeria’s 2008 long jump silver medalist, Blessing Okagbare, has reacted to the decision of the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) to hand her a 10-year-ban for doping violations.   The 33-year-old, who is also a sprinter, was expelled from the Tokyo Olympics last year before the women’s 100m semi-finals after testing positive for human growth hormone at an out-of-competition test in Slovakia on July 19. I am not condemning those involved. There must be a reason why that culture has become so prolific in Edo state. We must find the root cause and address them as we did in the days of trafficking. Let’s see how we can correct it because these children must be very brilliant. The kind of things they do, how they hack into other people’s accounts.  The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has appealed to the Federal Government to honour and implement the Memorandum of Action the union entered with the government that led to the suspension of the last strike action. This was the decision of the Nnsuka zonal meeting of the union held at the Federal University, Lokoja on Monday.
