Chairman of the Senate committee on appropriation, Danjuma Goje , presented the budget to the upper legislative chamber at plenary on Tuesday, May 15, 2018. After about seven months  President Muhammadu Buhari  presented the  2018 Budget  proposal to the National Assembly, indications emerged yesterday that the document will be passed today (Wednesday) or tomorrow. Of the N8.612 trillion earlier proposed for 2018 by the president, 30.8 per cent (or N2.652 trillion) of aggregate expenditure (inclusive of capital in Statutory Transfers), has been allocated to the capital budget. He expressed belieft that the budget, when passed, would be a budget of progress. The National Assembly and the Executive had since engaged each other in a blame game over the delay in passing the budget. Students of Kano State University of Science and Technology, KUST Wudil on Wednesday rioted and barricaded Wudil-Gaya road in Kano State. DAILY NIGERIAN gathered that the riot was sparked by alleged failure of the school authorities to save the life of a drowning student. Thereafter, the students began setting bonfires, vandalising vehicles, buildings and bank facilities. The victim was identified as Farouk Abubakar, a Level 300 student of Biology (Education). Speaking to our correspondent, the president of the Students Union Government, SUG, of the university, Muhammad Muhammad, said the school authorities had contacted local lifesavers, known as Sarkin Ruwa, to rescue the student but said they don’t operate at night. “The incident happened around 6:30pm on Wednesday. When the matter was reported to the school management, the dean of students affairs pleaded with Sarkin Ruwa to save the student but said they could not work at night,” he said. - Suspected kidnappers have abducted a new bride and 10 others in Kaduna state - The bride was being conveyed to her husband’s house by her friends and relatives when the gunmen struck - Also, the incident was said to have occurred around 8pm on Saturday, March 31 A new bride who was being escorted to her husband's house has been reportedly kidnapped alongside 10 others at Birnin Gwari town in Kaduna state on Saturday, March 31. Premium Times reports that the bride, after the wedding, was being conveyed to her husband’s house by her friends and relatives when the gunmen stopped the vehicle and took them away. The incident which threw the community into confusion occurred around 8pm.
